EuroHealthnet is the network of health promotion and public health agencies in Europe. Our aim is to improve the health of European citizens by striving for a healthier Europe between and within countries. We achieve this by coordinating the work of 31 national and regional agencies in Europe thereby constituting a valuable platform for information, advice, policy and advocacy on health issues at EU level.

EMIP aims to support action to improve the mental health of Europeans. EMIP is an acronym for “Implementation of Mental Health Promotion and Prevention Policies and Strategies in EU Member States and Applicant Countries”. Initiated in August 2004, the EMIP project will run until July 2006. It brings together 8 European Networks and 12 national partners to share knowledge, information and experience on the determinants of effective implementation of mental health promotion.

Together with the Member States, the EU works to protect and promote the health of European people. For the Commission, health is a key priority. That is why the Commission has developed a more co-ordinated approach to European health policy: a high level of human health protection should be assured in setting out all Community policies. The Commission strives to improve public health in the European Union, to prevent human illness and diseases and to obviate sources of danger to human health. This objective will be pursued by implementing the new Public Health programme which will become operational in 2003. Achieving high level of health protection requires close co-operation with the scientific experts. Independent and transparent risk assessments are provided through scientific committees, composed of representatives of the EU Member States.
