  • Supporting parents with mental health issues and understanding the impact on their children

    his conference addresses how services need to work on behalf of both parent and child in order to manage the impact on the child, whilst supporting the parent. A number of aspects will be considered:

    * emotional, physical and sociological impacts on children
    * how new parents are being supported through various initiatives
    * what family-sensitive services look like
    * the importance of joining up adult and children’s’ safeguarding and protection and some illustrative practical case studies
    * how to help children come to terms with their parent’s mental ill health and a consideration of some of the factors that can trigger problems.

    It is with great pleasure that we invite you to participate in the 13th World Congress of the World Association for Infant Mental Health from the 17th - 21st April 2012 to be held in Cape Town, South Africa.

    The theme of the Congress "Babies in Mind - the Minds of Babies" encapsulates the many dimensions of infant mental health. The importance of keeping the baby in mind at all levels is a moral and ethical imperative: for parents, the community and for policy makers in every part of the world; the minds of babies has been an area of fascination for researchers and clinicians for several decades - the growth in our knowledge has been exponential and at every congress new and exciting findings emerge. We look forward to receiving your proposals on these topics and hope to have a rich encounter which brings not only research and clinical practice together, but also Africa and the rest of the world.

    The abstract submission has opened in May 2011. The deadline for online submissions is 15th September 2011 (GMT).
  • Bullying and Harassment at Work

    Objectives
    The course offers up-to-date knowledge for researchers and practitioners, occupational health and safety professionals, trade union officials as well as labour inspectors on the measurement, causes and consequences of bullying. The lectures discuss also practical tools available to handle bullying situations, and for the treatment and rehabilitation of victims and workplaces where bullying has taken place.

    Target group
    The course is targeted at both researchers and practitioners, and will be of particular interest to occupational safety and health professionals, trade union officials, labour inspectors, organisational consultants, and clinical therapists as well as PhD students in this field.

  • Nationale Tagung für betriebliche Gesundheitsförderung 2011 - Stress und Arbeit: Die aktuellen Herausforderungen

    Das Thema Stress gehört heute zu den grossen Herausforderungen der modernen Arbeitswelt. Die Tagung geht dieser Problematik auf den Grund und bietet Lösungsvorschläge an.

    Präsentiert werden Handlungsanleitungen, um die Ursachen von Stress am Arbeitsplatz zu finden und zu beseitigen. Es werden neue Ansätze zum Stressabbau sowie zur Förderung von Engagement und Leistungsfähigkeit am Arbeitsplatz vorgestellt. Programme zur Stressprävention und -intervention werden aufgezeigt, deren Wirkung und ökonomischer Nutzen belegt sind. Beispiele aus Betrieben zeigen, worauf es in der Praxis ankommt. In Symposien gibt es zudem Gelegenheiten, Werkzeuge und Methoden kennenzulernen. Aus rechtlicher Sicht wird die Frage der Stresshaftung von Unternehmen erörtert.

  • Correlation Conference: Getting Out of the Margins in Europe – Changing Realities and Making the Difference

    Correlation is known as a network, which brings together people and different stakeholders – such as service providers, service users, researchers and policy makers – with the aim to break down barriers and to create new and innovative ways of cooperation and approaches.

    The conference is built on this principle. The programme includes high level policy plenary and major discussions as well as abstract driven sessions and skill building workshops. In addition there will be the opportunity to exchange knowledge and information in a more informal way during the 'Dialogue Market', in which participating organisations can present their work and exchange information with other participants. The main language of the conference is English. Specific satellite sessions in Slovenian are planned.

    The conference will focus on methodology and strategies, which improve the health and social situation of vulnerable groups – such as drug user, sex worker, young people at risk, migrants and MSM.
